D.N.F.T.® - DIrectional non-force Technique
When talking about chiropractic, most patients automatically think of the "pops" that are often associated with chiropractic adjustments. The technique we refer to here is the Diversified Technique, and it is one of the most commonly used. This technique corrects imbalances and dysfunctions in the vertebrae by applying specific, fast, low-amplitude pulses. These impulses often result in the release of air from the synovial fluid - the fluid that surrounds our joints - which results in the "pop" we hear during the adjustment.
There are, however, many other chiropractic techniques. Since chiropractic was introduced to the world of healthcare over 100 years ago, new techniques have been emerging in an attempt to produce even better and longer lasting results.
D.N.F.T.® – Directional Non-Force Technique is the original low force chiropractic method. This technique uses a unique system of analysis and correction of subluxations.
First, a small touch test is performed on the vertebra, followed by the D.N.F.T.® Reactive Leg Reflex™ check, which, by testing the body's reaction, allows the chiropractor to see if there is a misalignment causing nerve interference - a subluxation. If a subluxation exists, the correction is made using a gentle, directionally specific impulse that allows the structure to realign.
The intention of the D.N.F.T.® method is to provide maximum and lasting relief in an extremely gentle way and thereby also reduce the number of initial visits and frequency of follow-up.
We are all different, and it is therefore essential that chiropractic treatment is customized to each patient. For this reason, at Duarte Portas Chiropractic Clinic, we use both techniques described above, always adapting according to the needs of each patient.
